Preserver la culture de sagesse du TibetPreserving the Tibetan culture of wisdom.

“Tibetan buddism is regarded as one of the most invaluable spiritual cultures in the world. It is particularly renowned for its teachings of profound wisdom, knowledge of the spirit, and the humane ideals of compassion, tolerance and peace.

For over a thousand years, the study and practice of buddist teachings have grown in Tibet, entering all areas of Tibetan society and life. The tradition of sport, education, art and culture which flourished during this period features among the most sophisticated in the Buddist world.

Unfortunately, the future of this exceptional cultural heritage is threatened today.

Since 2001 the Art’Tibet Association has actively supported schools, monastries and masters to help keep this invaluable culture alive. I genuinely support their work and am convinced of the importance of their actions to preserve our tradition.

I would also like to thank you for the help you have given to Tibetans and their culture through your support of the Art’Tibet Association.”

Sogyal Rinpoché

Born in Kham, in East Tibet, Sogyal Rinpoché was recognised as the incarnation of Lérab Lingpa Tertön Sogyal, a master of the 13th Dalai Lama by Jamyang Khyentsé Chökyi Lodrö himself, one of the most extraordinary masters of the 20th century. Jamyang Khyentsé took care of his education and raised him as his own son.
In 1971 Rinpoché left for England and took up comparative religious studies at Cambridge university. He continued to study with numerous masters associated with all the Tibetan schools of buddism, and particularly with Kyabdjé Dudjom Rinpoché and Kyabdjé Dilgo Khyentsé Rinpoché, for whom he worked as a translator and assistant.
Sogyal Rinpoche possesses above all the gift of presenting the essence of Tibetan buddism in a way that is authentic and completely relevant to the contemporary world; he is one of the most well known masters of our times.
He is also author of the remarkable book entitled “The Tibetan Book of Life and Death”. This classic work of spiritual literature has been translated into 29 languages and has sold over 2 million copies in 56 countries. It has been adopted by colleges and universities as well as various medical and religious groups and institutions; it is also widely used by doctors, nurses and other healthcare practitioners. Rinpoché is also the founder and spiritual director of Rigpa, an international network of 82 centres and Buddist groups from 15 countries around the world. Rinpoché has been teaching for over 30 years and continues to travel to Europe, the US, Australia and Asia lecturing to thousands of people on his tours and retreats.
